Cartner Quality & Service

Quality With Age

The Blue Ridge Fraser Fir is a slow growing tree which requires close supervision and care for 11 to 13 years.

In the first three years, seeds are germinated and grown in beds to a height of 3-6". At the end of the third year, they are moved to larger transplant beds and grown for an addtional two year to a height of 12-14".

During the fifth or sixth year they are lifted from the transplant beds, examined for root growth and graded for quality. Only then are the best trees sent to the field for the duration of their growth.

For each of the following years, they are meticulously cared for by cultivating and maintaining supportive ground covers, monitoring insect and mite populations, checking and correcting fertility, and supervising individual hand pruning of each tree.

In the final year in regards to shape and density, the trees are only lightly hand pruned, leaving the natural branches sufficiently long enough for custom decorating.

As a result, each tree is different posessing it's own characteristics. This allows you to select a Cartner Christmas Tree that enhances your family tradtions.

Because of the inherent nature of the tree, it is not necessary to spray the tree with needle preservative or artificial color. It is a truly natural product and completely biodegradable.
